The average adult uses about nine personal care products a day, totaling about 126 chemicals. At least one-third of these ingredients have been noted to cause cancer or some other serious health problem.
Three common myths we falsely believe are 1) that the government would not let us be exposed to anything harmful; 2) that labels tell the whole story; and 3) that toxins are harmless in small amounts.
Synergies are the interactions that occur when two or more toxins are combined. |
| They are widely used in all forms of industry, agriculture, food processing, cosmetics, personal care products, household products, and so on. Most of us are familiar with what happens when we want a newer, faster computer or digital device that's been outdated by new technology. We have to discard the old hardware, which becomes electronic waste—and a main source of lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium.
Today the speed of technology and the rapid turnover of electronic products in our disposable society makes for an ever-mounting pile of metallic waste to contend with. |
| Natural beauty and personal care products made without added chemicals or unnecessary ingredients can usually be found in most health food stores. I'm a huge fan of Aubrey Organics, which sells a great line of all natural shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, makeup, and even baby and pet products. By using natural preservatives such as vitamin E and grapefruit seed extract, they avoid the addition of chemical preservatives. The following are the top ten synthetic cosmetic ingredients to avoid. Aubrey Hampton calls them the "10 most wanted"; I recommend visiting the site at www.aubrey-organics. |
| Among the most damaging personal care products are those that are scented, including cologne, deodorants, lotions, creams, bath salts, shampoo, cosmetics, soaps, body powders, and oils. Scented products can contain up to 5,000 different chemicals in various combinations, the vast majority of which have had little or no human toxicology testing.
Cosmetics contain not only fragrances (with all their component chemicals) but also metal salts. Mascara and eyeliners may contain lead or coal tar dyes, which are also found in hair dyes. |

More and more personal care products that are labeled "organic" actually contain free glutamic acid (MSG). Soon soaps, shampoos, and other body care products will have glutamate surfactants in them, as well as products that contain hydrolyzed proteins. Much of that MSG will enter your body through the skin. |

Fighting to prevent cancer prevention
It is interesting to note that with all the toxic chemicals found in personal care products these days, the American Cancer Society has actually fought laws and initiatives that would have helped prevent cancer. As Samuel Epstein explains on www.PreventCancer.org, "The ACS has a longstanding track record of indifference and even hostility to cancer prevention. This is particularly disturbing in view of the escalating incidence of cancer now striking one in two men and one in three women in their lifetimes. |

America. And don't even get me started about cosmetics companies, pet food companies and infant formula manufacturers.
Blame China? Give me a break. How about blaming the corrupt, criminally-minded FDA bureaucrats who have utterly surrendered their duties to profiteering corporations fixated solely on exploiting American consumers for maximum profits?
All this doesn't mean China's foods are any safer. They're not. But U.S. foods, drugs and personal care products are just as toxic. |

There is no need to safety test chemicals used in cosmetics and personal care products because the skin doesn't absorb chemicals. Unless, of course, we're talking about transdermal drug delivery products like the anti-smoking patch, in which case the skin readily absorbs chemicals.
Nature cannot be trusted. All herbs must be "standardized" to be safe. And even then, they're still useless.
Phytochemicals only act in isolation. Scientists can understand the physiological action of plant chemicals by isolating them, synthesizing them, and testing them one by one. |

My greatest secret is that I frequently practice the power of intention (and I have a specific process through which that is practiced), and I avoid all the foods, beverages and personal care products that interfere with the power of intention.
In the past, some people have wondered why I drink no alcohol, use no drugs, drink no coffee, take no medications, etc. |

Work to safely get off all prescription drugs, eat a diet of natural, wholesome foods (and avoid processed foods), exercise regularly, avoid toxic chemicals in your home (throw out those toxic laundry detergents and switch to soap nuts), and toss those toxic personal care products (skin creams, cosmetics, shampoo, etc.). Stay natural, healthy and alert. Be well, and you'll be the exception! And please, never be so gullible as to think that your government is going to "save you" with a new health care reform plan. |

You see this in personal care products and shampoo, too, where companies claim to offer "herbal" shampoos that have practically no detectable levels of real herbs in them. In foods, companies pad the ingredients lists with healthy-sounding berries, herbs or superfoods that are often only present in miniscule amounts. Having "spirulina" appear at the end of the ingredients list is practically meaningless. There's not enough spirulina in the food to have any real effect on your health. |

Many cosmetics and personal care products, for example, are loaded with cancer-causing chemicals that soak right through the skin and enter the bloodstream, and yet these products proudly display pink ribbons, enticing gullible women to purchase them while thinking they're doing something useful to stop breast cancer.
If it wasn't for the fact that so many women are being killed by toxic products, it would all be quite hilarious. But the sad fact is that product marketers are exploiting both the pocketbooks and bodies of women in a quest to generate more profits at any cost... |

There is no motivation for anyone in the cancer industry to teach cancer prevention. Preventing cancer means losing repeat customers.

She holds patents in the United States from her work at this firm that supplies chemicals used in personal care products to some of the leading cosmetic companies in the country. Globally, the market for cosmetics is huge—more than $ 100 billion a year. With prosperity comes an interest and a capacity to spend money on ways to enhance appearance. You know how some shampoos leave the hair shiny and smooth? That's because they contain things that bond to the surface of the hair shaft, leaving it silky and under control. |

In early January, you'll cleanse your liver and blood, getting rid of the toxic chemicals lodged in your tissues thanks to chemicals in food, personal care products, pharmaceuticals and home environments. You'll emerge from this experience with a clear mind, a healthier body and a renewed sense of youth and vitality. Virtually everyone who experiences this cleanse reports a similar outcome.
Now that doesn't mean the cleanse itself is easy. Passing toxic waste products and dangerous chemicals out of your body is not a fun experience. |

Liers: I feel our animals in the world we live in are in the same situation as the people: Overburdened with chemical contamination through food and personal care products. We are doing the same [to our pets]. If we give ourselves junk, then our pets get even worse stuff. They get the toxins that we will not eat. You are actually seeing in animals the exact same illnesses as in human beings. You see arthritis, diabetes, allergies, cancer, and heart disease.
Mike: It is accelerating rapidly in animals.
Dr. Liers: It is accelerating. |

Rather than protecting the people, politicians are now in bed with the powerful corporations selling foods, drugs and personal care products that actually harm people. There is no real defender of the people who remains in power in Washington. The entire power base has shifted to those sellout bureaucrats who seem to be willing to sacrifice the future health of this nation in order to solidify their own personal reelection campaigns with the help of corporate donations (bribes).
The system is broken. |

Let's look at the personal care products industry, because practically every brand name shampoo, cologne, perfume, deodorant, antiperspirant or other personal care product on the market is made with toxic fragrance chemicals. These can contain solvents, carcinogens and compounds that are registered in government databases as having strong liver toxicity.
The reason these ingredients are allowed in these products are because the FDA has mistakenly assumed for many, many years that whatever you put on your body doesn't get absorbed into your body. |

One of the more curious personal care products on the market is Herbal Essences Shampoo by Clairol. Personally, I think this product is a joke because it's trying to exploit the word "herbal" to imply that the shampoo is healthy, even though it is primarily made with the same ingredients as other popular shampoos. The first three ingredients, for example, are: water, sodium laureth, and sodium lauryl sulfate. Big deal, huh? You can find the same three ingredients in 99-cent shampoo at Wal-Mart. |

I've seen them recycle cans of household chemical cleaning products and personal care products made with all sorts of cancer-causing chemicals. I've actually looked into some of these bins and found antibacterial soap (toxic chemicals), lawn pesticide containers (more chemicals), and perfume bottles (extremely toxic to the ecosystems of waterways).
It all makes me wonder. What's the point of recycling all this packaging if the products being purchased and consumed are toxic to the environment in the first place? |

With all the hundreds of millions of dollars spent each year on personal care products and deodorants, I'm amazed there's almost no discussion about reducing body odor by changing your diet. In fact, when I've mentioned this subject to some people, they look at me in bewilderment. They ask questions like "What do you mean, your foods control your body odor? Body odor is genetic!" -- or some other nonsense. What they need is a crash course in the underlying causes of body odor. We'll call it The Fundamentals of Offensive Personal Odors, or just Body Odor 101, for short. |

A vast number of chemicals are now known to mimic the effect of natural estrogens from those found in pesticides and plasticizers to common foods and personal care products. Indeed, due to the major extent in which xenoestrogens have crept into virtually every aspect of our lives, our modern environment has been likened by scientists to "living in a sea of estrogens."
Chemical Xenoestrogens
While you may think that this ability of chemicals to mimic estrogens is largely accidental, in some instances this could not be further from the truth. Take, for example, the plastic known as bisphenol A. |

They are a result of nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress, environmental toxins found in the air, the water and even personal care products like shampoo, deodorants and anti-static dryer sheets.
You see, when a person has a cancer tumor, it's something that the body actually built. Conventional medicine tends to think of a tumor as some sort of alien invader, as if it swooped down from the sky and latched on to your body. But in fact, your body built the tumor. Cancer comes from within the body. There's no microbial invader responsible. |

The bottom line to all of this, though, is that every week, it seems like we see a new announcement about some toxic chemical found in personal care products that is related to either cancer or neurological disorders. And yet week after week these products are being sold by retailers and consumed in large quantities by the American people who remain oblivious to the real damage these products are causing to their health.
Once again, the solution here is to protect yourself by learning the truth about these products and switching to products made with safe ingredients. |

Secondly, the American people's minds and bodies are being poisoned by prescription drugs, food additives, metabolic disruptors, artificial light, toxic chemicals in personal care products, household cleaners, and so on.
We have a degenerate society here right now, and actually, if you're the king of this society, it's kind of handy to have a bunch of people who don't think too much. You're going to want people to have just enough capability to work hard, pay taxes and consume products. |
